For one of my holiday goals, I've always wanted to try two new things: an all-inclusive holiday with my partner Jordan, and leaving Europe for the first time. Not knowing where to start, I turned to my trusted travel professional Elaine for her expert advice!

She not only recommended a stunning hotel but also helped us plan excursions, combining the perfect balance of sightseeing and downtime. Mauricia Beachcomber
We stayed at the Mauricia Beachcomber Resort in Grand Baie for 10 nights. It was everything I hoped for and more, with a beachfront location, spacious and clean rooms, and some of the friendliest staff I’ve ever met.
The all-inclusive experience was a revelation. I loved the variety and convenience of the buffet, with chefs preparing fresh dishes at multiple food stations. The themed nights were especially memorable - Indian Night, paired with a traditional dance show, was a highlight.
Every evening, the resort came alive with live music at the beach bar, followed by a spectacular show. From a dazzling fire performance to an LED light show, there was always something to look forward to.
For the first time, I tried water sports like wakeboarding and water-skiing, and they were such a thrill! The resort also offered plenty of other activities, from yoga, aqua aerobics and volleyball games to cultural classes like henna art, Mauritian cooking and cocktail-making workshops.
I loved the glass-bottomed boat ride to admire tropical fish and enjoyed lots of peaceful moments on the beach too. It was the perfect mix of relaxation and fun.
The only thing to note is that accessing the nearby beach required navigating a bit of rocky terrain - but it was worth it for the secluded cove.
Exploring Mauritius
Elaine booked all our excursions ahead of time, and they were incredible.
Highlights included:
1) Visiting a dormant volcano crater, the 7-Coloured Earth, and a sacred Hindu lake.
2) Seeing giant tortoises and tropical fish.
3) Touring a sugar cane factory, rum distillery (with a tasting!), and the botanical gardens.
Each day was expertly organised, with comfortable coach transfers, knowledgeable tour guides and smooth logistics.
In our downtime, we explored the charming town of Grand Baie, just a short walk from the resort. The mix of local shops, restaurants and the vibrant atmosphere added a lovely touch to our stay.
First Impressions & Reflections
Mauritius is breathtakingly beautiful, with lush green landscapes, turquoise waters and warm, welcoming people. The mix of relaxation and exploration made it a perfect destination for a first long-haul trip.
Having never tried an all-inclusive holiday before, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this experience exceeded all my expectations. The variety of food, activities and excursions ensured there was never a dull moment, yet I still had plenty of time to unwind. It’s safe to say all-inclusive holidays are definitely my style now!
Mauritius is a destination I’d recommend to anyone seeking a mix of adventure, culture and relaxation, and I will be back!
