Client Blog: Lisa and Darren’s special anniversary trip to Sorrento

Lisa and Darren have been friends since our kids were at primary school together more years ago than I would like to work out!

The pandemic had twice curtailed their special anniversary trip to Sorrento, but determined to fulfil a trip to a place they had always wanted to go, I was thrilled when it was third time lucky and was everything they had hoped for...

Italy has always been on our wish list, particularly the Amalfi Coast, having seen lots of pictures and heard so much about its beauty.

This holiday was originally booked for our 25th wedding anniversary in August 2020 but unfortunately due to Covid, it was cancelled two years running.

We finally made it last summer and it was well worth the wait.😊

Flights and transfers were perfect - Elaine had sorted everything for us and it all fell into place.

Arriving in Sorrento, it was exactly as described and as we had imagined - a picture postcard but now real.

Grand Hotel Riviera had everything we wanted, with spectacular views from the terrace which we enjoyed over a lovely daily breakfast and gorgeous sunsets.

We ate out every night in Sorrento, with plenty of restaurants to choose from, and the food was delicious with the amazing pizza at the Fauno Bar in the main square a highlight. We consumed oodles of sensational ice cream, especially strawberry cheesecake and stracciatella flavours.

Sorrento is easy to access on foot with its picturesque, cobbled alleyways lined with boutiques, each alley leading to another and the constant aroma of lemons, pasta, and pizza in the air.

The local bus trips to Positano and Amalfi were quite an experience, with amazing coastal views all the way - and it was fabulous to wander around these beautiful historical towns.

The trip to Capri by ferry was another fantastic adventure and we especially enjoyed the chair lift in Anacapri which took us to the highest and most panoramic point on the island.

The weather was stunning throughout, and we couldn’t have wished for a more enjoyable first experience of Italy - it has whetted our appetite to see more of it in the future.

Thanks, Elaine, for helping create a very special memory.
