Welcome
I’m Elaine.
Born and raised in South Staffordshire, I'm now based near Cannock.
I began my career in customer service roles and have now been a travel professional for over three decades, becoming a self-employed, independent travel agent in 2021, and joining Designer Travel in 2024.
I pride myself on my friendly, approachable manner and exceptional attention to detail, and in 2023, I was delighted for this to be recognised nationally with a prestigious industry award.
Recent years have illustrated the importance of booking through an accredited and reputable travel agent. My extensive global network and commitment to expanding my knowledge ensures that my clients benefit from the most comprehensive and up-to-date insights.
No matter how big or small the enquiry, I thrive on booking dream holidays, and as one of my clients kindly said, having me on board is “like having an angel in your back pocket”.
Where I've been
I've been fortunate to drive through the vast terrains and majestic coasts of Australia and experience its fabulous cities.
Canada's expansive beauty and charm and the diverse landscapes of the United States have also left an enduring mark on me.
The Caribbean's sun-kissed islands, the tranquil beauty of the Maldives and Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, and both the rich history of Jordan and the modern oasis of Dubai in the Middle East have all woven themselves into my personal portfolio.
Closer to home in Europe, I’ve enjoyed short breaks and summer sunshine from the spectacular fjords of Norway in the north down to the coastlines of Spain, Portugal, Greece, and Italy in the south.
Visiting at least one new destination a year is an absolute must.
My favourite places
Jamaica is such a special island with wonderful people, a fantastic vibe and jerk chicken! I am a Sandals Specialist, and their resorts are in great locations with attractive ultra-all-inclusive, with extensive restaurants and beautiful beaches. South Coast and Montego Bay are my current favourites.
The Maldives is a stunning destination - and each island is so unique, plus there's superb snorkelling wherever you stay. Gili Lankanfushi is my number one resort. I stayed here on a trip and had a whole residence with its own rooftop terrace to myself. Simply bliss.
Canada, from the west to the east, has just the best scenery, nature and wildlife plus fantastic people and poutine! Knight Inlet Lodge is an indigenous-owned wildlife viewing destination in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest of British Columbia and one of the most incredible places I have experienced. The bears on my home page (and this little fella) are from here. It is absolutely breathtaking! To be with nature on a floating platform, with no television, very limited Wi-Fi, bears, whales, bald eagles and hummingbirds, to name just a few, is something I will never forget.
Where I want to go...
I have a couple of unfulfilled dream trips on my wish list.
First is a South African safari combo. The thought of witnessing majestic wildlife in their natural habitat, coupled with the allure of Cape Town's beauty and the enchanting Winelands is one that fills me with anticipation.
And then there's an authentic Costa Rican adventure with the promise of lush rainforests, diverse ecosystems, spectacular wildlife, and fantastic people. I hear only wonderful things and can’t wait to experience it.
My priorities when booking a holiday for a client
It's simple - service, service, service.
I firmly believe in the power of personal connections, understanding that people choose to work with someone they trust.
Listening, comprehending, sparking inspiration, maintaining accessibility, and surpassing client expectations are not just principles; they are the heartbeat of my approach.
It brings me immense pride and satisfaction to have developed relationships where long-standing clients simply say: “You know what we like, Elaine”.
Irrespective of the scale of the enquiry, I am passionate about being there for my clients’ entire travel journey, from the start of the booking process to their return, and beyond.
To have my dedication to customer service acknowledged by the industry through an award has been an incredibly rewarding validation.
My most embarrassing travel experience
Oh dear, there are a few!
On a work trip in Jamaica, we were being treated to a catamaran cruise and having a little dance on deck. It transpired that I hadn’t tightened my bikini top enough, and as if that wasn’t bad enough, I suddenly became aware that a group of American tourists were filming...🤦🏼♀️
What I can't travel without
Packing cubes! They come with me on every trip.
My best piece of travel advice
Life is too short. Don't hold back; live it! It’s not a rehearsal. Soak up the experiences.
